What is Laser Hair Removal, and How Does it Work? 

“Laser hair targets hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface. The laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair, which generates heat and damages the follicle, inhibiting future hair growth.

Before we begin, I assess each patient’s skin tone, hair type, and treatment area to customize the laser settings for optimal safety and effectiveness. During the session, patients may feel a mild snapping sensation, similar to a rubber band against the skin. To enhance comfort, we often use cooling technology or topical numbing creams.

The treatment is relatively quick—smaller areas like the upper lip can take just a few minutes, while larger areas such as the legs or back may take up to an hour. After the session, there may be mild redness or sensitivity, similar to a light sunburn, which typically subsides within a few hours.

Laser hair removal is most effective with a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, allowing us to target hair in different growth cycles. Over time, patients notice a significant reduction in hair growth, leading to smoother, maintenance-free skin.“
